Volunteering with Future For Africa means working alongside a fully Ghanaian-led organization que understands local realities from the inside. Our team is deeply rooted in the culture y challenges of the communities we serve, ensuring that every project responds to real needs and creates impacto duradero. As a volunteer, you won’t just support development initiatives—you’ll aprender, exchange idea, and contribute meaningfully to community-driven solutions in Ghana.
What things you will do
As a volunteer, you will participate directly in Future For Africa’s projects, working alongside local teams. These initiatives focus on key areas such as health❤️🩹, education📚, water access💧and construction🛠️.
One week as a volunteer

Your trip
International flight: You will need to take a flight from your country to Accra, Ghana’s capital.
Accra stay (Optional): Depending on the timing of your flights you may one to stay in Accra in between your flights. Future For Africa team can help you with anything you may need during your stay.
National flight: You will then need to take a sort flight to Tamale.
Car ride: Finally, Future For Africa will arrange a car that will take you from Tamale’s airport to the volunteers house in Bolgatanga. Future For Africa is in charge of this ride, so you won’t have to pay for it.

Book your flights
Flight prices increase rapidly closer to the departure date. And depending on your country, you may need to make a stopover.

Get your vaccines
When comming to Ghana some vaccines are mandatory. Yellow fever vaccination is always required, but some countries require extra vaccines.
TIP: Contact your country’s external health department.
Get your inssurance
Get all the required documentation ready and apply for your visa in Ghana’s embassy on your country.
TIP: We recommend insurance policies that include repatriation in case of illness.

When can I go?
Future For Africa is open all year long, so you can come any time in the year!
How much time should I go?
We have a minimum of 2 weeks. But we strongly recommend comming for over 3 weeks, as it takes some time to travel here and getting
How safe is Ghana?
Ghana is one of the safest countries in Western Africa, as it is politically stable y crime indexes are low. We do arrange things so you’re never alone during your stay if you don’t want to.
What language will we speak?
Ghana’s official language is English 🇬🇧, so you’ll manage easily if you have basic English knowledge.
Can I go in group (or alone)?
As you wish!
Here you’ll meet other volunteers from all over the world, so just let us know how many of you are comming or just come by yourself.
Can I participate in multiple projects?
Absolutely! Though keep in mind that the subterránea of some projects vary depending on the time. For instance, water projects are only available when we have the funding to drill a well.
Expenses approximation
Traveling includes different expenses and each of them depends on several factors, so let’s break it down. Keep in mind that these prices serve just as an orientation and are by any means a compromise:
- Flights: This can vary significantly depending on the country you’re comming from, when you buy the tickets and when in the year you’re comming, as flight prices can be very different. Buying in january 2026, one-way Madrid-Accra in august is about 310€, while one-way Accra-Tamale in august is about 110€ (also january 2026).
- Vaccines: This depends on the country you come from, so the best you can do is contact your country’s external health department. In Spain is <50€ (Jan. 2026). But since the government subsidizes part of the cost of the vaccines, this can change with time and country.
- Inssurance: Again, it depends on the country where you hire the insurance and the policy you hire. Should we recommend an insurance here?
- Visa: Ghana embassies charge a fee for processing the visa. In Spain they start at 60€ (Jan. 2026).
- Accommodation: For your stay in Bolgatanga we charge 300€ for the first week and 50€ for each extra week. This includes accommodation, meals, water and utilities, and travel between Tamale–Bolgatanga and back. In addition, part of this contribution will be used to help make the projects a reality.
